Ahh Yes, Where to Stay? Thailand Hotel Reviews

krabi thai village lobby

I've put together a Thailand hotel reviews section because I've stayed at quite a few condos, apartments, resorts and hotels in Bangkok and all over Thailand throughout my years of living and vacationing in Thailand.

I moved around quite a bit for one reason or another. I've also stayed at many friend's apartments and hotels so I'll be talking about as many of those as I can as well.

Options! There are so many different varieties of living quarters, you have a great deal of choice here. I really love all the new style of hotels, condos and apartments going up all over the city of Bangkok and Thailand in general.

The Bangkok skyline is rapidly evolving and changing. However, if you are looking to buy real estate in Thailand, a word of caution is highly recommended.

(Thailand hotel reviews will be discussed as cheap, mid-range, or high-end luxury as shown near the bottom of this page.)

First let's look at the difference between the Western style meaning of condos, hotels and apartments...

Sometimes it's hard to distinguish between hotels, condos, and serviced apartments in Thailand as they can seem to blend or blur into each other, creating hybrids. Coming from the West (the U.S.A. in my case) there is more of a distinction between the three.

A Hotel by my description is a decent, nice or very nice short term accommodation with quite a few amenities that is serviced by a maid and staff but will most likely only have one room, basically a very small studio.

A condo is a longer term contract that you most likely own or rent from an individual owner. The condo would most likely have no furniture, a few amenities and no maid service. It would most likely be one bedroom or above.

An apartment by Western standards are similar to a condo but are owned by a company or group of investors. bayan tree bangkok Now that I have shown what my basic idea of a condo, hotel and apartment is, let's see how that compares to what I've seen and experienced in Thai hotels, Thailand apartments and Thai condos.

The major difference between the West and Thailand is in the apartments and the condos. Many Thai people and expats for that matter, exchange the words apartments and condos, almost to mean the same thing.

I believe the reason for this is because you can get the same services whether you live in a condo or in a serviced Thailand apartment. You can get your condo or apartment cleaned, clothes dry cleaned and pressed, and most likely even order food (which you can't actually do in the U.S.A.).

The high availability of cheap labor allows for maids and cooks to be easily found. This is another great benefit living in the land of smiles and falls under the cost of living in Thailand.

Here's the most amazing part (for me at least); is that every apartment, serviced apartment or individual condo I've rented comes with furniture. From the cheapest to the most expensive.

thailand hotel reviews It's actually hard to find a Thai apartment or condo with no furniture.

And many of them can be rented by the week or month. This means you can save big money renting from a condo or serviced apartment instead of a hotel for your vacation or holiday.

This also means you have less stuff to move around the city if you live there and decide to move to another location.

By the way, I haven't seen any apartment in Bangkok or Thailand for that matter that doesn't have some type of service attached to it. bangkok apartments The Thai hotels in Bangkok and throughout Thailand are basically the same except many hotels contain with-in them serviced apartments or even condos.

A perfect example of this is President Park which is a Hotel but has serviced apartments with-in. And The Grand Diamond which is a Hotel on one side and self owned condos on the other with shared amenities.

See how this can get a little blurry.
