The following list of accommodations are a varied collection of condos, apartments and hotels. Depending on how long your stay in Thailand is you'll get ideas for your particular situation.

This 4 star hotel is actually a combination of hotel, apartments for rent, and condos to buy through individual owners.
The hotel portion is in the tower facing the street. The apartment condo side is the tower facing the river canal. The two towers are met in the middle by the wonderful oval shaped swimming pool and tropical area. With the amount of people living and vacationing here it's amazing that the pool area never seems too busy.
Lots of amenities here,
The rent for a one bedroom condo here runs about 15,000 to 20,000 baht depending on your agent and who's renting the condo out. A 90 square meter 3 bedroom condo runs about 30,000 to 35,000. All condos are furnished, have great wood or tile floors, and balconies.
I believe the hotel charges around $75 USD a night and up depending on season and other factors.
It's very easy to relax and get settled into living at the Grand Diamond.
The people living here are pretty good people, many families. You have many singles living here too but it's not like living near Sukhumvit Road. My friend moved from the Omni condos and serviced apartments off Sukhumvit Soi 4 to stay at the Grand Diamond and he agreed that it's much better here. The tourists on the hotel side are mostly couples or families and are well mannered.
I enjoyed hanging out on the pool deck and chatting with neighbors or sipping coffee and reading a paper in the hotel lobby area.
Great location, what's not to love about an address with lucky 888 in it (you can't miss these numbers on the front of the building). It is a little walk from the BTS Sky Train but you can get to Pantip, The Platinum Fashion Mall (which you can practically touch), Central World Mall, Pratunam and canal boats very easily.
Extremely good value for your money here, you should enjoy it, especially if you stay on the condo side and save yourself some money.

It's in the heart of Pratunam shopping and it's basement floors are technically a part of Pratunam shopping area.
I've never stayed the night here but I have shopped at its stores and enjoyed the view atop one of the tallest buildings in Bangkok.
This building is huge, 80 something floors. You should at least come see the view from the top of this huge structure. It has a 360 degree rotating observation deck with a few interesting factual displays.
You can find very cheap wholesale shopping on the basement floors. There are many shops with cool stuff.
The bad thing about this hotel is that it feels kind of Disneylandish and I have a feeling it could be a tourist trap so I would only go for shopping and use the observation deck but not stay here.
All I can say wow. I really, really liked this hotel and serviced apartment. This place can be pricey at certain times, almost in the luxury category but it's priced well enough and with such good value that I kept it in the mid-range section.
This was one of the first places I stayed at when I first came to Thailand. I stayed in many of the various rooms, large and small, and they are all good. The only thing I would really complain about is the lobby. The lobby is kind of small for a hotel of this class but it more than makes up for it in the beautiful rooms they have.
I love the design of the rooms, I love the kitchens, I love the huge bathrooms, I like all the little details, I love the huge open pool area(which is great for families), tennis and walking areas, and I really LOVE the exercise gym!
The gym and locker room areas are second to none. Rock climbing wall and all the fitness machines you want without being crowded. The gym is encased in this huge white cloth dome which lets perfect light in. The massage and relaxation areas are out of this world. If you haven't noticed I love this place.
Awesome location too. A little quieter than most places but close to everything like, The Davis Hotel, grocery shopping, Emporium Mall, BTS Sky Train, etc.
