Business in Thailand can be stressful, but very rewarding

Stressful because you're in another country and your trying to understand the customs and culture of Thailand while running a business.

Rewarding because even your worst day in Thailand is still better than most of your best days in your country, hey your living in paradise and don't forget it!

Even through some of the headaches I had running a business in Thailand I still loved every day of it so it never really felt like work and that my friends is what it "should be".

When I first got to Thailand I was doing modeling and teaching, it didn't really occur to me to do business in Thailand until I started networking and looking around at what Thailand had to offer and the countless other business options out there.

I had a few conversations with one of my many new found friends in Thailand named, Neil. He started a web site called execshirts.com.

Neil had the great idea of providing custom made dress shirts from Thailand over the internet. He was taking advantage of the excellent fabric and cheap labor available in Thailand. He makes a killing.

One of my other buddies started a web site for real-estate sales in Thailand and does pretty darn good. I'm talking Western types wages in Thailand and that's something to write home about, literally.

My Own Thailand Businesses

All this talk of business got my gears turning and soon I was selling Thai made products and handi-crafts on Ebay, it was a good start. I quickly became an Ebay Powerseller with the help of my better half.

This business actually did pretty good allowed me to learn the ins and outs of international shipping and dealing with customs.

I was selling Thai products like stingray, crocodile, silver, and Thai arts to people all over the world.

I then started my own e-commerce web site named, eternalcrest.com. These two businesses turned me into a Thai exporter. Thai exports can be a great source of income.

Update: It seems as if the person I sold the eternalcrest website to, sold it again to someone else who then turned it into a hub or link site. It's too bad because it was a great site that use to sell actual products that made a great profit.

The profit from these two business allowed me to eventually open my own internet shop, named, Quantum Internet and Cafe.

This internet shop was opened in The Platinum Fashion Mall in downtown Bangkok which served locals and well as tourists.

The internet shop was next to the food court which had heavy traffic flow.

I sold many of my on-line goods in the physical shop. Life was good. I would talk with the tourists about world news and where to go and where have you been while sipping on a latte.

These businesses taught me a great deal about Bangkok and where to find wholesale business in Thailand.

I eventually sold all those businesses through Sunbelt Asia for a handsome profit before moving back to the U.S.

Thailand Exports

Again, Thai exports are great and it's fun. Some other examples of Thai exports are, Thai silks, Thai gems, Thai silver and silver beads, jewelry, and all types of handi-craft and art. Not only that, just think of all the things made in Thailand from tires to rice to cookware.

OTOP and thailand.com is great place to get some ideas on Thai exports but I wouldn't necessarily wholesale from them. (careful the OTOP site sound is turned up).

65 plus percent of Thailand's Gross National Product is from Thai exports. Tourism only accounts for about 7 percent or so. So there are tons of good exports out there.

Understanding the Thailand economy as far as Thai currency, banking, gold and such can also go a long way to helping your business endeavors.

Now starting a business in Thailand or business in any country requires some elbow grease (work!) but if you have the desire you can make it happen.

I came to Thailand knowing absolutely no one and nothing but I made it happen and believe me I'm no one special. I don't tell you this to brag but just to let you know if I can, then "ANYONE" can make business in Thailand happen.

Words of business wisdom: someone once told me, "You have to give people a reason to trust you and after you have earned that trust you have to give them a reason to keep coming back to you by providing "excellent" service."
